04/27/08 . . . Still more sad news

It seems that sad news begets more sad news. We received the following from Joe Duffy, Jr. yesterday:

“Hi Ray, Hope all is well in the poconos. Unfortunately, I have more bad news for all my friends in Spinnler. My father in-law Kaare Nyhus passed away on March 2nd, 2008. Kaare and Karin reside at 3 Spruce Rd. Kaare passed away after major surgery. Very unexpected.”

04/25/08 . . . More Sad News

We just learned that Jean Malloy, of Coatesville and 26 Terrace Road in Spinnler Point, passed away Thursday, April 24, at her home. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 28, at 11 AM at the Moore & Snear Funeral Home in Conshohocken. Obituary details were available online via

04/15/08 . . . Sad News

Sad news. George Rohde, good friend to many and long time member of the Association, passed away Sunday morning, April 13. The Hazelton Standard-Speaker, published the following obituary on April 14th.

“George Edwin Rohde, 93, formerly of North Broad Street, West Hazleton, and Harmony Drive, Hazleton, died Sunday at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton.

Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home Inc., Hazleton Chapel, 426 W. Broad St., Hazleton, is in charge of arrangements.”

Just in case, funeral details are as follows:

Friends and relatives are invited to gather at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Church and Hemlock Streets in Hazleton, on Thursday, for a viewing period that will run from 1-2 PM. The funeral service, with Rev. Douglas S. McKeeby presiding, will commence at 2 PM. Burial will follow in Sky-View Memorial Park at Hometown.

Memorial contributions to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Church & Hemlock Sts., Hazleton, PA 18201 are encouraged by the family.

For your convenience and reference, in addition to the copy that was mailed to members, a “Draft Pending Membership Approval” copy of the 2007 Annual Meeting Minutes has been posted in the Members Only section. If you have not as yet requested access to this area, you may do so by completing the available request form.

08/21/07 . . . Information Restricted

Effective immediately, the Spinnler Point Colony Association Board of Directors has opted to restrict access to certain information considered to be confidential or of a proprietary nature.  Accordingly, the new Members Only section will require a username and password in order to gain access. To obtain access, simply complete the access request form in this section. Be advised that all access requests will be verified before authorization is granted.
