We had to call it a tie for the remaining two contestants in the hula hoop contest, Garrett Wishnick and Kiera Schmid, who might have been able to keep their hoops going until sundown. Our thanks to Ray and Maryellen Cirelli (photo right) for coordinating the contest.

New feature this year was the Pitch Burst which the kids REALLY got into BIG TIME!

Get someone to sit in the seat under a one-gallon balloon filled with water, take aim at the target, and watch the fun begin! A direct hit on the target swings a sharp point toward the ballon and SPLOOSH! the person under the balloon gets SOAKED!

Also new this year was an art contest whereby kids of various ages could display their creativity by drawing something of their own choice. Finished creations were hung on a clothes line while judges picked the best of the group. Needless to say, everyone came out a winner.

Although we had sun for most of the day, Mother Nature intervened with a brief rain storm that had everyone scrambling for the large tent.

Did that put an end to the festivities? Heck no! Some folks went home to keep dry and take a potty break while others waited out the storm under the tent.

As we mentioned earlier, when the rain storm passed, they all came back with the fixings for dinner.
