Albert Marchunsky

Albert Marchunsky, 88, of 306 W. Coal St., Shenandoah, died Tuesday at Shenandoah Manor and Nursing Home.

Born in Shenandoah, Nov. 5, 1921, he was a son of the late Alex and Lillian Marchunsky.

He was a veteran of World War II, where his diligent service earned him a Bronze Star. He was also a Purple Heart recipient.

Albert was employed by the U.S. Post Office, Shenandoah.

He was a member of St. Stephen Church, Shenandoah, and the Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ed, Stanley and Clarence.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Anna Honus Marchunsky; two sisters, Dorothy Pelsinsky and Georgene Deegan; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., 40 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Friends are invited to call Friday morning from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday by Monsignor Ronald Bocian from St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow Mass in St. Stephen Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Church. Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., Shendandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
